Having a lot of friends isn’t an ego-stroking thing. It’s just plain smart. Trust me, it’s always been about who you know not what you know.

I am currently reading Kate White’s I Shouldn’t Be Telling You This: Success Secrets Every Gutsy Girl Should Know. There are bad books, okay books, good books and great books. But there is another kind of book and it’s the rarest.

The game-changer.

White has a witty, sassy style. She is seamlessly intelligent and down-to-earth in her fiction. And guess what? Her nonfiction delivers more of the same.

I’ve never recommended a book I haven’t finished, but this one has me far too excited. Even if Ms. White devolves into dirty limericks for the rest of the book? I still feel I have spent my money well. There are some points she makes which I feel are especially poignant and applicable to writers.

Part of the reason I’m referring to her book in this blog (even though I’m not yet finished) is that I might just chicken out unless I…

A Review of Tex and the God Squad by Author Stuart West

Tex and the God Squad By Stuart West

Tex and the God Squad By Stuart  R. West

The third book of Tex, the Witch Boy series begins with the suicide of a classmate. Everyone at school is shocked and fearful, unable to understand why Bittany, a pretty, popular cheerleader would suddenly kill herself.

In spite of the fact that Tex had never spoken to her, he suspects there is more to her death than what anyone believes and begins asking questions that makes him and his friends, very unpopular and targets for whoever is hiding the truth.

Tex’s intentions when he shows up at the girl’s family home after the funeral, is to show his support and respect to her family. But soon after arriving, the questions that have bothered him from the beginning, become too much for Tex to ignore and he does a little investigation of his own.

He discovers something in her room that could prove if the girl had committed suicide, she was driven to do it by someone else. Now the big question is who would do such a thing and why? But finding the answers to these questions would ultimately lead to Brittany’s killer and a very disturbing truth about a sinister church.

I found this well written tale of murder and deceit hard to put down. I’ve also read the first two stand alone books of this series and loved them both and just like Tex, the Witch Boy and Tex, and the Gangs of Suburbia, Stuart R. West’s third book does not disappoint. The characters of Tex, Olivia and their friends are well rounded and highly developed characters, making the book very entertaining and real. I highly recommend it!

Many of Stuart’s books can be found at MuseItUp Publishing’s website, Amazon , Barnes and Noble and many other places books can be found. If interested in learning more about Stuart R. West and his books, please visit his blog.

Friday November 21st, 2014 marks the release day for the paranormal short story Huntin’ , the latest from author V. L. Murray.

Huntin-333x500

Here’s an excerpt from the story.

“Usually it was Hawk who called to her from above and helped her on her day’s journey, communicating with single piercing cries whenever she needed guidance. Hawk would appear in her dreams, sometimes showing the future.

He had come two weeks ago as she was dreaming, and told her the story of the hunt camp to come. She sighed again with resolve, knowing what she must do if Spirit was ever to return to her beloved son. Now, Wolf howled once more, and this time Jack looked up as if listening to its…

Did You Know?

Agatha Christie is the best-selling novelist of all time.

British mystery writer Agatha Christie is the best-selling novelist of all time. It is estimated that she sold over 2 billion works, putting Christie’s books just behind the Bible and William Shakespeare in terms of most sales.

She has sold approximately a billion books in English, and another billion have been sold and translated into around 45 different foreign
languages.

She is the most translated author, and has been translated into more languages than Shakespeare. Since her first novel was published in 1920, Christie’s 80 works have been adapted into film versions 27 times.

I found this very interesting and did a little more investigating to find out more about Agatha Christie.

She was born September 15, 1890 and died of ‘natural’ causes on January 12, 1976 at the age of 85.

Agatha Christie--Best Selling Author of all time!

Agatha Christie–Best Selling Author of all time!

I wonder if Ms. Christie really knew how much her books influenced the world of literature, plays, movies and television, and even video games, radio and comics or knows that she lives on in the hearts and minds of millions of fans who love and enjoy her work.

My greatest achievement, as an author is being published, but I’m practical. Becoming famous from a few eBooks is rare and ending up on the New York Times best seller’s list is only a dream.

Yet Agatha Christie managed something even more spectacular. Something no one else in the world has: The Guinness Book of World Records lists Christie as the best-selling novelist of all time.

One last thing about Ms. Christie, as of 2014 media reports state that the BBC has acquired exclusive TV rights to her works in the UK and plans to air new productions for the 125th anniversary of Agatha Christie’s birth in 2015.

What an amazing legacy Agatha Christie left for all of us to enjoy.

Iced Tea and Chitchat With a Friend

Here’s a book that has me interested and I thought maybe others might be too.

Susan A. Royal

Today I’m delighted to welcome Ann Everett, an author friend and fellow Texan. Ann’s a great gal, open, honest and fun. I met her a few years ago through our local writers’ group. We hit it off immediately. The first time we had lunch together I think we talked nonstop for at least three hours. We were both in the process of getting our first book published and had lots of notes to compare. Since then we get together every chance we get.

Iced Tea and chitchat with Ann Everett
Ann Everett embraces her small town upbringing and thinks Texans are some of the funniest people on earth. When speaking to writing groups, businesses, book clubs, and non-profit organizations, she incorporates her special brand of wit, making her programs on marketing, self-publishing, and the benefits of laughter, informative and fun.
An award winning author, she’s also a member of Northeast Texas Writers’ Organization and a top twenty…
